Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers - Live In Amsterdam 1978

No I'm afraid no one has come up with a copy yet, so in the mean tine I decided to see if I could make a repair, and this is it. It's not too bad the first four and last three tracks have a few glitches which there was nothing I could do about (so it would still be good if anyone has a better copy they could share), but the rest is fine.

I also did a little research as I found the track listing confusing and eventually discovered that the tape consists of two gigs and a short radio session. So if you're a fan of Jonthan Richmam and the Modern Lovers and their early material you're going to like this.

I've seen Jonathan Richman with and without the Modern Lovers and I have to say even though together their excellent, seeing Jonathan Richman do a one man show is outstanding. When playing solo he covers all the Modern Lovers bits, changing positions on stage and talking to himself. With or without the one thing you can say is he puts his heart and soul into every performance and you can tell how much he envoys performing and you can hear this when he spontaneously tags on extra bits in many of his songs. He also loves talking to the audience, I was at the front of a gig many years ago singing along and I sang the chorus to early, and he stopped, looked at me and said "Not Yet" played a bit more and then looked again and said "Now".

Most people like something by Jonathan Richman whether it's the early classic Modern Lover debut or his later infectious power pop songs, even Frank Black (with Teenage Fanclub) played homage with the"The Man Who Was Too Loud" a great title and a great song well worth looking up.

Anyone else got some good memories/stories of Jonathan Richman? Then leave a comment and tell us about them.

Thanks a lot for this; I have just completed the download and will listen to it later!A few years ago, Castle Records announced a double cd re-issue of the Modern Lovers Live lp. That would have consisted of both London shows, the project was cancelled; anybody knows if it is out there on bootleg?
Thanks again Rank Stranger
