Devo - Jocko Homo

Question: Are We Not Men?

Answer: We are Devo

They had to be one of the strangest bands around. This was their debut single released in 1997, and what a debut. Both sides are weird but excellent.

Devo went on to release further excellent songs, but after this one they definitely became more commercial

Another pesky fold out sleeve, which I have scanned. The lyrics are on the inside, so as usual I have copied them in higher resolution for you to sing along. The record label has Booji boy records, but there is also a small sticker on the front with Stiff Records and cat number DEV1.

The question and answer at the beginning of this post is also etched on the single in tiny letters (the smallest etching I have ever seen).

Band: Devo
Label: Booji Boys Records
Year: 1977
Tracks:
1. Jocko Homo
2. Mongoloid

In the very early days of swedish punk, local band (the poor ones) often played the b-side live. Even I can play it on bass.

I heard at least three bands play it live, including "Ass" at Jarlateatern. 78-79. Or maybe they called themself "08" at the time. Long time ago...
