Takeover of ASFM

I know it sounds like some corporate takeover, but is there anyone out there who would like to take over "Always Searching For Music"?

If so please email (in the profile) me.

I've found it harder and harder to make time for postings (I'm sure people have noticed the degradation of quality) and as I have some plans that I am working on that are going to take up even more of my time up, it's impossible to keep this going.

I'm still happy to make the odd contribution and help out from time to time.

If not, then I guess it's the end for ASFM.

The best thing about ASFM has been all of the great people I have made contact with, and some of the rare obscure music that I would never have heard if not for this blog. So just in case no one takes over can I say thanks to all to those who made contributions, and the people that took time to make comments.

All the best, Gary

Sad day for us all Gary, this has truly been a great blog, and I'm glad someone recommended it to me.

Best wishes on your future plans and hopefully they'll be as successful as your blog.

Nooooooo..... Say it ain't so! That would be a huge loss, really - I've probably not been following the site for more than a few months, but during that time it's become an addiction, like being able to tick off everything I ever wanted all the way down to the bottom of those old Small Wonder singles ads.

Serious suggestion though - don't give up, but slow down. Take a look at the other comparable mp3 blogs - very few of them manage more than a post every week or so. The rate you're throwing stuff up here, it's no wonder you're desperate for a break. Maybe don't even check your mailbox for this blog more than once a week. And regardless of what treasures you get hold of, don't even think about posting more than once a week. It's an RSS feed, not a regular website so we'll see as soon as there's a new post - it's not like a regular site where people have to remember to keep checking back.

And whatever you do, don't go before I get a chance a digitise There Must Be Thousands by The Quads for you! (Or have you done that one already?)

Gary,
I totally agree with what John A said above.

Obviously, it's down to you and how ya feel about things.
I must admit, I wouldn't want to do it. I can imagine it takes a lot of time and effort, and we all appreciate what you've done.
I must admit, I was getting into digging out my old 45's and cleaning them up and sharing them with you and all the guys, but I think everybody will understand your decision.

All the best with your future endeavors.

I'll keep an eye out in case you change yer mind.

Cheers.... Bruce.

gary...i respect your right to close up shop. the hours that you put in for "ASFM" must take an awful lot of your time. but in no way have i witnessed any degradation in quality, that you can be assured. in many ways "ASFM" has given me back the enthusiam i once had and lost for the music that matters! it still does too. so whatever happens, i wish you all the best...jeff

Hello Gary

Haven't been about for a bit myself due to being very busy. Theres not alot I can say that hasn't been said already to be honest but this is THE best blog on the WWW and the only one I visit EVERY day when I'm about.

I hope it isn't the end. I would have a break mate and see how you feel in a couple of weeks. As the guy above says, we'll be here!

Take care mate

Gary,

For a 46 year old like me to have had the opportunity to listen again the Vinyl version of these great singles that formed my musical outlook thirty years ago has been fantastic.

The numerous ‘Punk’ compilations that abound are not a patch on hearing the music as we did for the first time in it's original form.

Respect your right to call it a day and all that. But I would echo previous comments. One post a day was quite a frantic pace. One a week or two a fortnight would still make the blog worthwhile.

Whatever you decide, Thank you for the selfless sharing of these jems that still mean so much to many of us who visit ASFM.

All the best, mate.

Sad news, Gary. ASFM's been the best blog around and will be sadly missed. All the best for the future, mate.

Hey, don't stop!
Slowing down is fine enough by me as well... I discovered this blog weeks ago and I still can't keep up with your tempo. I like the music, I like your philosophy about posting music, found this blog to be very well cared for.
All the best,
Bart

have you tried using a good blog editing application instead of using bloggers interface? something like the free Live Writer from Microsoft can make posting much faster and easier.

You have a great music blog here! I've added you to my custom search, check it out.

I've collected over 5,000 mp3blog links, accessible from the alpha menu at page top. You can open frames on the these blogs to view them directly on my site, and you can also view the feeds in a frame.

You can search all these blogs in my custom google search:

Gary,

All I can do is echo the above sentiments - hope you don't quit, but just ease the pace, but whatever you do, all the best.

Your blog is the first I check whenever I'm on-line - I don't even know the huge amount of excellent music I've downloaded here.

Just wanted to give my respect.

As usal all I can do is echo.

Keep going! A 'single of the week' is lots - I was alway amazed (and envious) of your daily postings.

Whatever you decide your work here was always outstanding.

It's sad indeed, but you gotta do what you gotta do. You've posted some great stuff here and it's been a pleasure to find some new items I'd never heard, and to give a wink and nod to one's I know so well. Thanks!
Cheers mate!!
