A bit of silly punk fun here from 'Splodgenessabounds' debut single. The a-side 'Simon Templer' was a souped up version of the ITV show 'Return Of The Saint'. Strangely enough it was the b-side 'Two Pints Of Lager and A Packet Of Crisps Please' which amazingly got to number #7 in the national chart, and also inspired the name of a BBC situation comedy of the same nameSplodgenessabounds were noted for playing pranks my favourite was if they had no support band, they would support themselves all swapping instruments and playing very loudly and badly. Their press claims were also just as mischievous: a three sided LP, and a free Christmas tree with every album.
