Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles

The 'Dead Kennedys' classic debut single 'California Uber Alles'. This is the UK release on FAST records, and I will never forget buying this, not knowing what it was like, putting it on and being blown away by 'Jello Biafras' incredible vocals.

Many of you may not have heard this version, it was re-recorded on their classic debut album 'Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables' as a faster version. Both versions are brilliant but the original is the best for me. The b-side 'Man With The Dogs' is also a great example of classic punk but not as good as the a-side.

The back cover has the lyrics, so as usual high resolution copy in the download.

Amusing etchings on this one, on the b-side we have the classic 'Another Porky Prime Cut' and on the a-side we have 'Ein Porken Primen Kutten'

Band: Dead Kennedys
Label: Fast
Year: 1979
Tracks:
1. California Uber Alles
2. Man With The Dogs

Ripped from glorious scratched vinyl:

If you like this then definitely buy their debut album, you will love it:
Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
If you want this posting in nice digital quality then you will have to buy this one (both sides + a load of brilliant odds and sods):
Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death
Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death

Hey Gary, yup, the Dead Kennedys were an awesome example of California punk. I've always enjoyed the faster version of California Uber Alles. Glad you have it out there.

Hello Gary, funny you mentioned your kids enjoy punk. I was listening to The Germs on the stereo when my 7 year old walks in and tells me he loves The Germs. Come to find out The Germs are on a sound track for a Play Station 3video game which he plays. Good to know old punk lives on. Take care.

Hi Raul, yep the PLaystation and Xbox is responisble for introducing kids to different genres of music including punk. Its good to hear them singing along to old punk classics on rock band and guitar hero.
