For me Richard Hell is underrated and produced some excellent tracks.
This rip is from another 12" with three tracks (I'm getting fed up of doing these scans), the a-side 'Blank Generation' is the stand out track, but 'Liars Beware' is also excellent.
So leave a comment and tell me what you think, which track do your prefer?
Band: Richard Hell and the Voidoids
Label: Sire
Year: 1977
Tracks:
1. Blank Generation
2. Liars Beware
3. Who Says?
Ripped from glorious scratched vinyl:
If you like this, the you will love 'Richard Hells' debut album, all three of these tracks are on it plus some other excellent standout tracks such as "Love comes in spurts","Plan" and "I'm Your Man". What are you waiting for?

Richard Hell put out some amazing music. His backing band was excellent,Robert Quine is one of the all time under rated guitar players, and Ivan julian is no slouch either.
Nice Blog
Eric
I love blank generation and liars beware. Richard Hell and the voidois are great. I was wondering if you have the original Blank Generation EP from 1976? It's quite hard to find?
Hi Eric and Dave, thanks for your comments.
I have been listening to the album nearly non-stop since this posting, and have now noticed how alike the guitars playing (and riffs) are to Babyshambles. Have you noticed it? My son who is a big Pete fan scoffed this at first but now acknowledges it, I wonder if Pete Doherty has heard this album.
Hi Dave, no I haven't, another one I would love in my collection, but you're right you don't see it around too often.
You need to hunt down a single by Bob McFadden & Dor (aka Rod McKuen!) called "Beat Generation"
Richard Hell pretty much copped the song "Blank Generation" wholesale from this late 50's novelty tune.
(The b-side of which is "the Mummy" which surfaced in the late 90's in a cover version by the Fall)
The Hives have borrowed alot of Richard Hell, most notably their album Tyrannosaurus Hives. I do a weekly radiio show, that plays alot of old punk/new wave, Richard Hell is amoung one of my favourites to play.
Hi Lanmark thanks for the info, I will look for this Bob Mcfaden track, is it hard to find?
I want to hear both sides now.
Hi Dave, I am a Hives fan but I have never noticed the similarity between Richard hell and the Hives, but I wasn't looking for it, so I will give it a try.
Hi Lanark tracked down the Beat Generation by Bob McFaden and you are right the similarity is very obvious. I wonder if Bob McFaden copied something else.
The 1959 album by Bob McFadden and Dor can be found here:

Thanks for pointing the album out anon

I'm not sure if you've seen this site before or if i've mentioned this link to you. If I did, then I apologize, if not then enjoy!
Hi Dave, hope all is well, yep I always keep an eye on isksp. No need to apologize mate, by the way have you checked out the Bob McFadden song in comment above yours. it is amazing how similar Blank generation is.
I haven't checked it out yet, but I will now.
I do frequent your site, you always post some great obscure music that I've never heard of.
hi Dave, thanks for the compliment much appreciated. I think your find it interesting listening to the McFadden song and then Blank generation, very similar but different. It would make a good contrast on your show.
By the way I talked to the Stanley Blacks last week they were going to send you their new single, whats the best address to send it?
Gary
I didnt see this reply until today. It can be sent to the email that is on my blog, damn.that.television@gmail.com
