Another classic from the US. I love this track, when it came out we all thought that the title "Blank Generation" was a term for punks with Blank being bored, etc. But Richard Hell later on said that it meant Blank - Fill in the gap.For me Richard Hell is underrated and produced some excellent tracks.
This rip is from another 12" with three tracks (I'm getting fed up of doing these scans), the a-side 'Blank Generation' is the stand out track, but 'Liars Beware' is also excellent.

Richard Hell put out some amazing music. His backing band was excellent,Robert Quine is one of the all time under rated guitar players, and Ivan julian is no slouch either.

I love blank generation and liars beware. Richard Hell and the voidois are great. I was wondering if you have the original Blank Generation EP from 1976? It's quite hard to find?

I have been listening to the album nearly non-stop since this posting, and have now noticed how alike the guitars playing (and riffs) are to Babyshambles. Have you noticed it? My son who is a big Pete fan scoffed this at first but now acknowledges it, I wonder if Pete Doherty has heard this album.

You need to hunt down a single by Bob McFadden & Dor (aka Rod McKuen!) called "Beat Generation"
Richard Hell pretty much copped the song "Blank Generation" wholesale from this late 50's novelty tune.
(The b-side of which is "the Mummy" which surfaced in the late 90's in a cover version by the Fall)
The Hives have borrowed alot of Richard Hell, most notably their album Tyrannosaurus Hives. I do a weekly radiio show, that plays alot of old punk/new wave, Richard Hell is amoung one of my favourites to play.

Hi Dave, I am a Hives fan but I have never noticed the similarity between Richard hell and the Hives, but I wasn't looking for it, so I will give it a try.
Hi Lanark tracked down the Beat Generation by Bob McFaden and you are right the similarity is very obvious. I wonder if Bob McFaden copied something else.
