Well the name of the band sounds punk, the year 1977 was right and they sound like New York punk, but look at the cover. 'Brats' formed in the early 1970's and this song was originally recorded in a 1973 demo session. This single was actually re-recorded and released in 1977 on Whiplash records. It was their second single and if you want to find out more then follow this link for Brats and other bands on Whiplash records.
They were really more of a glam rock type band, which in my opinion released some OK stuff, but 'Be A Man' is a real little stand out track which would easily fit in any punk compilation. The b-side 'Quaaalude Man' is a bit more like their normal music (you can definitely heat a bit of New York Dolls in this b-side and their first single).
So opinions everyone, would 'Be A Man' sit on one of your Punk compilations?
I nearly forgot to mention this is another from 'Bruno of Brazil' collection. So leave him a thanks if you leave a comment.
