Black Randy and the Elite Metro Squad - Idi Amin

Black Randy and the Elite Metro Squads second single released on Dangerhouse records in 1978. definitely different this one, with a blend of Punk and Funk. You either love it or hate it, I have not found many people in the middle.

For me the standout track is 'Idi Amin', I love that organ riff. I'm Black and Proud (both parts) is a James Brown cover that is more Funk than Punk (I guess you would expect that), but it does grow on you. I Wanna be a Nark is the weakest track in my opinion.

This came in a fold out sleeve and was also available in a couple of colour vinyl versions (green and orange, my one is the boring black vinyl).

So try them out, and tell ASFM what you think of Black Randy

Band: Black Randy and the Elite Metro Squad
Label: Dangerhouse
Year: 1978
Tracks:
1. Adi Amin
2. I'm Black and Proud (Part 3)
3. I'm Black and Proud (part 14)
4. I Wanna Be A Nark

Ripped from glorious scratched vinyl:

If you like this then try out this (kind of) greatest hits collection, it has his more famous 'I Slept In An Arcade' plus different versions of this EP (not as good as the single in my opinion):
Pass the Dust, I Think I'm Bowie

I once met a man whose apartment was decimated by Black Randy
It seems Randy got ahold of a bulldozer

Hi anon thanks for the comment. It does appear Black Randy could go for it sometimes. I hope the guy wasn't in his apartment when it happened.
